Schaefer Hits 2 home runs in Longnecks Win
|
With designated hitter John Schaefer leading the charge, the Bloomington Longnecks defeated the Forest City Warriors, 8-3, at Lookouts Ballpark. Schaefer, who leads the PAAA in home runs with 28, belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Getting the save was Tom Peña, his 6th. The Longnecks saw their record improve to 51-47.
With Bloomington leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Schaefer hit a cutter from Hsiao-lou Lei for a 3-run home run. It was his 28th home run of the season and put the Longnecks ahead, 4-0.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Bloomington manager Coy Knight.
