Lake Monsters Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
The Vermont Lake Monsters dealt the Tortolita Drummers a 8-2 loss at Monster Field. Dragoljub Kandic was the star on offense. He was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Vermont reliever Lawrence Swift was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Freddy Calcines took the loss. The Lake Monsters, with just their 3rd win in 10 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

Kandic contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for Vermont in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Kandic took a changeup from Freddy Calcines and stroked the single to left. His 7th hit of the season allowed the Lake Monsters to leap in front, 3-2.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Juan Rodríguez said.
