Tritons Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Bronze Sox
|
Jersey City rode a decent outing from starter Brian Gardner to victory over the Texas Bronze Sox at Bronze Sox Park. The final score was 5-4. Gardner, now 5-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 3 earned runs. Keith Johnson closed the door for Jersey City, picking up his 12th save of the year.
Jersey City used the timely hitting of Lorenzo Varela to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tritons on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
