Losing Streak Continues for Silver Sox with 5-4 Loss to Shredders
|
The Hollywood Shredders and Chicago Silver Sox obliged those fans who came to The Hollywood Bowl hoping for an exciting game.
The Hollywood Shredders defeated the Chicago Silver Sox, 5-4, in United States Premier League action at The Hollywood Bowl. Johan Kroening received player of the game honors. The 10-year veteran went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Lloyd Natoff was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Cullen Taylor earned the save, his 18th, for the Shredders.
Kroening contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Hollywood in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Kroening took a changeup from Carl MacPherson and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Shredders to leap in front, 4-3.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Chicago manager Dustin Hewitt.
The Silver Sox, at 14-38, have lost 8 in a row.
