Bronze Sox Clip Starks in Tight Contest
The Syracuse Starks got a sterling performance from pitcher Dave McAlear, but the Bronze Sox still prevailed, 3-2. McAlear was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. The 6th-place Bronze Sox raised their record to 40-43.

Dave Watts was the walk-off hero for Texas. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bronze Sox pinch hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"This place was electric at the end," Watts said.
