Late Rally by Warriors Secures Win
|
The Forest City Warriors bested the Port Royal Disaster by a score of 6-5, with designated hitter Wilbur Davis getting the main credit. On the day, Davis slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Warriors. Forest City reliever Sakutaro Ohayashi was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Juan Delgado. Forest Bell finished the game for Forest City and earned his 1st save.
Forest City used the timely hitting of Bob Giles to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warriors ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Giles. "I think we showed that here."
The Warriors, now 53-29, have won 5 in a row.
