Tritons Prevail, 3-1, Over Port Royal
|
Jersey City got a strong outing from Jerry Kumpf as the Tritons defeated the Port Royal Disaster, 3-1, at Jersey City Grounds. Jersey City reliever Cedric Zuercher picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Dean Cross was saddled with the loss. Keith Johnson got the save, his 8th in 9 chances.
In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter Syed Sarkar gave Jersey City the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Tritons had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Port Royal pitcher Dean Cross changed that -- and Jersey City went on to win.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Sarkar said after the game.
Jersey City currently is in 7th place in the Premier AAA at 37-44.
