The Port Royal Disaster faced a tough opponent in Jersey City pitcher Nick Cole, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Jersey City Grounds by a final score of 3-1. Cole went 7.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. Reliever Joe Louter picked up the win. His record improves to 7-3. Paul Vereen took the loss. Juan Delgado nailed down his 19th save.
Port Royal needed the clutch hitting of Sean Wallace to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Disaster on top, 3-1. For the game, Wallace had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Port Royal manager .
With the win, the Disaster have a record of 42-38.
