The Portland Evergreens topped the Charleston Battery, 9-8, with left fielder Leonid Machehin playing a big role. Machehin went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times for the Evergreens in the win. With the win, Portland has a record of 23-27. Charleston falls to 22-28.

Sinclair Bothof's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Martín García for a run-scoring single. It put Portland in front, 9-8.

"What a game," said Machehin. "We needed every last run."
