The Nobles had to overcome a good performance from Texas pitcher Jay Mahabir to claim a 3-2 win at Jerome Grounds. Mahabir went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The winner was Bakersfield reliever Ming Zhai, now 1-0. The loser was Wilson Valenzuela. The second-place Nobles now have a 5-game winning streak.

In the bottom of the 8th, second baseman Chris Fitzgerald gave Bakersfield the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Nobles had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out double off Texas pitcher Wilson Valenzuela changed that -- and Bakersfield went on to win.

Texas manager Wynn Burton said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
