The Virginia Beach Whales had to overcome a big game from Northville second baseman Junji Ito to leave Virginia Beach Grounds with a 7-6 victory. Ito went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Mike Park picked up the save for Virginia Beach, his 6th of the year. The Whales now own a record of 15-19.

The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Whales were trailing 3-2. Paul Pitts delivered a two-out 2-run double for Virginia Beach, catapulting his team into the lead.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Pitts, "but we could've played better."
