The Jersey City Tritons picked up a win at Jersey City Grounds, knocking off the Sacramento Redlegs, 6-2. Starting pitcher Paul Vereen played a key role in the triumph. Vereen, the winner, moves to 7-7. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Jersey City is now 29-41, while Sacramento is 31-39.
Sun-jae Kwak had a big run-scoring double for the Tritons in the bottom of the second inning. With Jersey City leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Korbin Dallas and stroked the double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tritons ahead, 3-1.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Vereen said.
