Jerry Yates was instrumental in his team's 6-2 triumph over the Charleston Battery. The catcher went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the New Orleans Voodoo. Will Hunting was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Wu-ti Xuan closed the door for New Orleans, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Jeff Bowers had a big 2-run double for the Voodoo in the bottom of the first inning. With New Orleans leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Hildebrand Michielsen and stroked the double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Voodoo ahead, 3-0.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Yates. "And not try to do too much."

The Voodoo raised their record to 5-0.
