Brass catcher Tomislav Jovovich put his stamp on his team's 5-4 win over the Bakersfield Nobles. Jovovich was 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Baton Rouge in the contest. Baton Rouge reliever Wu-ti Xuan picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Bing-zhong Qiu absorbed the loss. The Brass are now 32-26, while the Nobles fall to 34-24.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Baton Rouge trailing 4-2, Scott Dourque hit a fastball from Bing-zhong Qiu to center for a bases-clearing double. Just like that, the Brass had a walk-off win.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Baton Rouge manager José Reyes.
