Starks Get One-Run Win at Bakersfield
|
Bakersfield got a terrific performance from shortstop Carlos Miranda, but it wasn't enough to beat the Syracuse Starks. Syracuse won the Jerome Grounds contest, 4-3. Miranda was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-3 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch. Edmund Blackadder earned the win for Syracuse. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 3-7. Raúl Flores closed the game out for Syracuse, earning his 4th save.
Damon Newbold dealt the Nobles a blow in the top of the third. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Syracuse leading 3-0, Newbold hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Newbold told the Syracuse Daily News.
The Starks sit in 9th place in the Premier AAA with a record of 23-34.
