Irving withstood an impressive performance by Virginia Beach third baseman Pat Geldart to defeat the Whales, 6-5, at Blue Sox Ballpark. Geldart was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Jim Porter got the win, improving to 4-2. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Irving is now 11-15.
