Longnecks Solve Brass, 3-2

The Bloomington Longnecks stopped the Baton Rouge Brass, 3-2, behind an impressive performance from John Schaefer. The slugging left fielder made life miserable for Baton Rouge pitching. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Bloomington reliever Neal Burns, now 3-0. The loser was Mihai Dumitru. Bloomington leads the Premier AAA by 2½ games.
Schaefer contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Bloomington in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Schaefer took a circle change from Mihai Dumitru and stroked the home run to right. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Longnecks to leap in front, 3-2.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Schaefer told the Bloomington Today.
