Redlegs Get Past Syracuse for 9-8 Win
The inspired effort of Syracuse designated hitter Gary Malone was not enough to prevent a 9-8 loss to the Sacramento Redlegs. Malone was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a triple, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. The Redlegs saw their record improve to 22-24.

Temaki Yuka tagged a home run off Jeffery Brock in the bottom of the ninth. His 2-run blast put the Redlegs on top, 9-8. In all, Yuka had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"This place sure got loud," said Marshall Edwards, the Sacramento manager.
