Thunder Knock Off Love Boats at Rapiers Ballpark

The St. Petersburg Thunder got a stellar effort from pitcher Lorenzo Carregosa, helping St. Petersburg score a 3-1 win over the visiting Lake Minnetonka Love Boats. Carregosa, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Earning his 6th save for St. Petersburg was Carlos Taváres.
Carlos Leyva swatted a 2-run home run for St. Petersburg in the bottom of the third. The second baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Leyva said.
With the win, St. Petersburg goes to 15-7, while the Love Boats fall to 9-13.
