The Baton Rouge Brass picked up a win at Brass Field, knocking off the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-3. Starting pitcher Rainer Polonius, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Polonius picked up the win for Baton Rouge, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Gunnar Hoglund earned the save for Baton Rouge, his 2nd of the year.
Jorge Muñóz hit a run-scoring double off Raimo Kangas in the bottom of the second, which put the Brass in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Muñóz had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Muñóz. "And not try to do too much."
The third-place Brass have won 5 straight games.
