Starks Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Syracuse Starks topped the Bloomington Longnecks by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Nelson Rivera. Rivera went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Starks. Syracuse reliever Greyfriars Bobby picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jesús Franco took the loss. Syracuse is in 7th place in the Premier AAA with a record of 17-21.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Rivera hit a changeup from Jesús Franco for a solo home run. The Starks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
In comments to the Syracuse Daily News, Rivera insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
