Longnecks Get One-Run Win at Bakersfield
|
Bloomington beat Bakersfield at Jerome Grounds, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Leon Alfons, who earned player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Alfons, now 1-1. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 10. Omara Moctar closed the door for Bloomington, picking up his 1st save of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fourth, with the game tied, Dao-zi Zhan was at the plate when Bloomington scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Longnecks to go in front, 3-2.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Alfons.
Bloomington is now 23-10, 3 games up in the Premier AAA.
