Big Game from Fujii Not Enough, Mockingbirds Lose
|
Mississippi catcher Akihiko Fujii had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to New Orleans at Magnolia Park. Fujii went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The 6th-place Mockingbirds have lost 4 straight games.
New Orleans used the bat of Jeff Bowers to capture the win. The right fielder jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 7-6. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Bowers, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
