The Sacramento Redlegs and Bakersfield Nobles provided some drama at Sacramento Sanitation Station.
The Nobles had to overcome a fine effort from Sacramento pitcher Josuke Okumura to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Okumura went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Sam Mooney picked up the save for Bakersfield, his 1st of the year.
Bakersfield used the timely hitting of Giobbe Bastedo to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Nobles on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If we keep winning the close games," Bastedo said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
Bakersfield has a 3-game win streak, while Sacramento has lost 3 in a row.
