Brass Come Back Late to Top Bronze Sox
|
Bronze Sox Park was the site of a tense game between the Texas Bronze Sox and Baton Rouge Brass.
The Texas Bronze Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Jay Mahabir. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Baton Rouge. The Brass won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Mahabir was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Picking up the save was Juichi Kanno, his 4th.
Baton Rouge used the timely hitting of Stephen Goldobenko to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brass on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Goldobenko told a Baton Rouge Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The 5th-place Brass now have a win-loss record of 13-12.
