Rainbow Mermaids Score Late, Stun Silver Sox, 7-3
|
Starting pitcher Ton Jobse pitched well enough to help the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Chicago Silver Sox by the score of 7-3. The win puts the Rainbow Mermaids at 18-24, while the Silver Sox drop to 13-29.
Had Jorge Alejándrez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Alejándrez hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Rainbow Mermaids.
Jobse told a Northern Virginia Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
