Redbirds Come Up Short at Port Royal
|
The Port Royal Disaster beat the Memphis Redbirds, 7-6 at Ballpark of Port Royal, in part due to first baseman Jaime Espinar, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Disaster go to 12-9, putting them 4th in the Premier AAA.
Espinar had a game-changing single in the bottom of the seventh. On a 3-1 fastball from Paolo Speranza, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Disaster a 4-3 lead. It was the 28th hit of the year for Espinar.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Espinar told the Port Royal Citizen.
