Brass Come Up Short at Bakersfield

Both teams had their chances, but the Bakersfield Nobles eventually prevailed at Jerome Grounds.
With designated hitter Bharti Mona leading the charge, the Bakersfield Nobles defeated the Baton Rouge Brass, 5-4, at Jerome Grounds. Mona, who is tied for 4th in the PAAA in triples with 1, was 1-1 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win takes Bakersfield to 12-8.
Masafumi Kawaguchi, who is tied for 5th in the PAAA in home runs with 5, aided the Bakersfield cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Baton Rouge manager José Reyes. "But we decided not to take it."
