The St. Petersburg Thunder scored a 4-3 win versus the Northville Eclipse at Old-Timers Park. St. Petersburg designated hitter Gene Blanton nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. St. Petersburg, now 6-2, is playing great baseball to start the year.

Blanton contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for St. Petersburg in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Blanton took a fastball from Jason Breary and stroked the home run to left-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Thunder to leap in front, 2-1.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Blanton told the St. Petersburg Observer.
