Whales Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
|
The Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 5-2, in USSL Double A action at Virginia Beach Grounds, with Virginia Beach pitcher Ed Alexander named player of the game. The Whales, with just their 1st win in 7 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Quitério Ruah, who is rated as the 52nd best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Virginia Beach with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake.
