|
Ft. Polk South starter Ken Bates pitched effectively against the Atlantic City Sonics at Sonics Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 4-1 win. In 5.1 innings, Bates surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Jeremy Bearimy recorded his 2nd save for Ft. Polk South.
Ft. Polk South used the timely hitting of Raúl Colomo to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Thunder Hawks on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I liked his command," said Ft. Polk South manager John Anderson. "Ken was throwing strikes."
The win takes Ft. Polk South to 4-3.
