Whales Lose Again, 4-1, to Thunder
|
The Virginia Beach Whales got a superb performance from pitcher Sylvain Richard. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Petersburg. The Thunder won the game, 4-1. In spite of the loss, Richard was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. St. Petersburg reliever Antony Durney picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sylvain Richard absorbed the loss. With their winning streak at 5, the Thunder have raced to a strong start this season.
Early in the game, second baseman Carlos Leyva had a run-scoring double for St. Petersburg. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Thunder on top, 1-0.
"I believe in our guys," said St. Petersburg skipper Emílio Sáenz. "I like the energy they're playing with."
