Giles, Warriors Humble Redbirds
The Forest City Warriors beat the Memphis Redbirds, 12-1, at Lansing Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Bob Giles, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Buzzy Grossman was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. The win brings the Warriors to 7-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

With Forest City leading 4-1 in the top of the eighth, Giles hit a fastball from Denie Coppens for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Warriors ahead, 7-1.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Giles. "And not try to do too much."
