Nobles Fall to Tritons, 8-3
|
Jersey City pitcher Paul Vereen did his part in helping his team beat the Bakersfield Nobles, 8-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Vereen got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Vereen allowed 1 earned run. Picking up the save was Wesley van Klaveren, his 2nd.
Jersey City relied on the hitting of Marvin Clark to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Tritons on top, 3-0. For the game, Clark had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Jersey City manager John McGrath.
