Warriors Stun Redlegs, 2-1
|
The Warriors faced a stiff challenge from Sacramento pitcher Nobuhito Tanaka, but persevered to claim a win at League Park. The final score was 2-1. Tanaka went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Forest City reliever Ramón Sánchez picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Nobuhito Tanaka was collared with the loss. Dewitt Clendaniel locked down his 2nd save.
Had Wilbur Davis not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Davis hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Warriors.
Davis called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
With the loss, Sacramento sinks to 2-3.
