Tritons Clip Nobles, 6-5
|
Bakersfield got a terrific game from second baseman Frank Ray. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Jersey City, 6-5. Ray was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Dou-guan Shao earned the win for Jersey City. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Wesley van Klaveren earned the save for Jersey City, his 1st.
It could have been a different outcome for Jersey City, had it not been for Xiao-yong Huang, the 22-year old second baseman . Huang contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Jersey City up, 4-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Huang told the Jersey City Daily News.
The loss drops Bakersfield to 2-2.
