Tritons Need Extras to Top Warriors
|
Fans who congregated at League Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
Jersey City withstood an impressive performance by Forest City third baseman José Álvarez to defeat the Warriors, 7-5, at League Park. Álvarez was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. The Tritons have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 1st win in 3 games.
Xiao-yong Huang's hit in the top of the 14th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a slider from Dave Berry for a run-scoring single. It put Jersey City in front, 6-5.
Huang called the extra-inning win a "confidence builder."
