Chu Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Bethesda in Walk-Off Win
|
The Bethesda Atoms turned back the Ottawa Nationals, 9-8, at Atoms Field. Xiao-yong Chu was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Reliever Maks Rajnev picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Jesús Torres took the loss. Bethesda goes to 4-0 with the win.
Chu had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Jesús Torres, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Atoms a 9-8 lead. It was the 5th hit of the year for Chu.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Ottawa manager Fernando Gonzáles. "The effort was great."
