Monsters Score Late to Upend Coyotes, 3-2
|
Monongahela beat Hamilton at Timber Hawks Ballpark, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Gabriel Durango, who earned player of the game honors. Monongahela reliever Al Verkler picked up the win, upping his record to 4-6. Hansky Paillant took the loss. Hamilton has now lost 5 in a row.
Roger Snodgrass was the walk-off hero for Monongahela. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Monsters third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Snodgrass told the Monongahela Chronicle. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
