Fighting Dachsunds Turn Back Austin, 5-4
|
It was a fun time at Dog Park in Ellenburg, where the Austin Black Mambas and Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds tangled.
The Austin Black Mambas got a superb performance from shortstop Francisco Ortíz, but the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds still won the game, 5-4. Ortíz was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Lester Roadley, the winner, improved to 2-0. He held the Black Mambas to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 5.
Snow Wang dealt the Black Mambas a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Ellenburg leading 1-0, Wang hit a 1-1 changeup for a 2-run triple.
"We'll savor this win," Wang told the Ellenburg Times, "then get ready for the next game."
The Black Mambas, now 51-43, have lost 4 in a row.
