Late Rally by Monsters Secures Win
|
The Monongahela Monsters topped the Austin Black Mambas, 4-2, in M3L Triple A action at Mamba Park. The player of the game was Monongahela pitcher and Omaha, Nebraska native Ean Somoza. The save was credited to Javier Solís, his 1st. Monongahela now owns a record of 42-49.
Monongahela used the timely hitting of Abraham Ruenuitz to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Monsters on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Ruenuitz told the Monongahela Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."
