Tight Tilt Goes to Black Mambas, 4-3
|
Austin Black Mambas starter Mark Collingwood pitched a strong game against the Sioux Falls Red Pandas at Mamba Park, leading the Black Mambas to a 4-3 win. The winning pitcher was Collingwood, now 3-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Bobby Roode earned the save, his 18th.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the third, with the game tied, Carlos Hernández was at the plate when Austin scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Black Mambas to go in front, 2-1.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Collingwood. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Black Mambas now own a record of 44-32.
