Fighting Dachsunds Squelch Buzz Offense in Shutout Win
|
Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds starter Jorge Veráquez turned in a top-notch performance against the Salt Lake City Buzz at Spirits Stadium. The result was a win for the Fighting Dachsunds, 3-0. The winning pitcher was Veráquez, now 5-5. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. The Fighting Dachsunds saw their win-loss record go to 26-27. At the same time, the Buzz fell to 34-19.
Ellenburg used the timely hitting of Steve Albright to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fighting Dachsunds on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Albright attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
