Evergreens Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rainbow Mermaids
|
The Portland Evergreens took Northern Virginia pitcher Ricardo García's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Atlantica. The final score had Portland getting past the Rainbow Mermaids, 4-1. García went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 4. Seong-hyeon Yi got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Portland is now riding a 3-game win streak.
One of the clutch hits for Portland came from one of their biggest talents. In the top of the tenth with two out, Tetsu Matsumoto, who is tied for 5th in the PL in total bases with 72, hit a 2-run single to put the Evergreens up, 4-1. For the game, the right fielder was 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Matsumoto.
