Rainbow Mermaids Blown Out by Evergreens
The Portland Evergreens powered past the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 15-2, at Atlantica. Orlando Velásquez went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Ron Mingo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Ton Jobse was tagged with the loss. Portland goes to 15-16, Northern Virginia to 13-18.

Portland used the clutch hitting of Daryl Yandell to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Evergreens ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"The Evergreens definitely had our number," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
