Mockingbirds Prevail, 4-2, Over Charleston
|
It was a fun time at Magnolia Park, where the Charleston Battery and Mississippi Mockingbirds tangled.
The Mississippi Mockingbirds beat the Charleston Battery, 4-2, at Magnolia Park. Mississippi third baseman Richard Jost earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He slugged 2 home runs. Zaki Fakhiri earned the win for Mississippi. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. Sima Babic, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
The Mockingbirds got a lift from catcher Calvin Wilms who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth inning off Scotty Bingham. It was his 9th RBI of the season and put Mississippi in front, 3-2.
"I felt good up there," said Wilms. "I saw the ball well."
Mississippi is now 14-16, while Charleston is 13-17.
