Vélez Excels, Salt Lake City Blows Out Ellenburg
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder César Vélez, the Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 13-1. Vélez was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Buzz. Javier Soto picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-1. He struck out 5 in 7.2 innings. The second-place Buzz have won 8 straight games.
Salt Lake City relied on the hitting of Fontana Contaldo to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Buzz on top, 7-1. For the game, Contaldo had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Contaldo told the Salt Lake City Today.
