Hickford and Ausmus Suspended 4 Games Friday, August 24th, 2040 At a recent Continentals-Love Boats contest at Chesapeake Grounds, Eddie Hickford of Chesapeake took exception to what Rainer Ausmus of Lake Minnetonka said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players. Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 4 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct." So far this year Hickford is hitting .255 with no home runs. For the year, Ausmus has collected 2 saves in 28 relief appearances. He has also rung up 44 strikeouts and 21 walks in 42 innings while registering a 4.07 ERA and a 3-5 won-lost mark. |
