Colón Wins SAA Top Pitcher Award Sunday, July 1st, 2040 Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask José Colón, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Irving Blue Sox reliever, 28, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .207 average and walked away with the USSL Double A Pitcher of the Month award for June. Colón posted a 3-0 mark and a 0.55 ERA in 8 relief appearances. In 16.1 innings, he had no saves, 9 strikeouts, and 6 walks. To this point in the season, Colón has put up these figures: 3-1 record, 14 relief appearances with 30.2 innings, no saves, 18 strikeouts, 10 walks and a 1.17 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .230 batting average. |
