Week's Top Player: Asheville's Barthorpe Monday, August 20th, 2040 It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the M3L Double A, but last week Dean Barthorpe of the Asheville Highlanders reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Barthorpe rocked opposing pitching for a .588 average (10-for-17), 2 home runs and 6 RBIs to come away with the award. In 82 games this season Barthorpe has compiled a .263 batting average with 85 hits and 11 home runs. He has also scored 36 times and knocked in 43 runs. |
